Naxos is perhaps the greenest island in the Cyclades cluster, with towering mountains and fertile valleys.  It is the largest island in the group and was the center of ancient Cycladic culture.  While famous as a tourist destination, its main industry continues to be its agriculture.

It can be reached via ferry from either Piraeus. Mykonos or Santorini. 

Use our Naxos map to find the best beaches in the island, most of which lie near Hora, the main town.  Among the most notable of these include Mikri Vigla, Agia Anna and Agios Georgios.  Water sports are a major activity in the island and boasts of some of the best windsurfing spots in Greece.

Visiting the villages is a must for your stay, where much of Greek tradition is kept to this day.  Find your way to them with our handy map of Corfu.  Towns of note include Halki, the commercial center among the mountain villages; Eggares, a large, green valley filled with quiet beaches; and  Filoti with the nearby Mt. Zeus, the highest peak in the Cyclades.  Equally as compelling are the island’s cultural locations, from ancient castles, Mycenean ruins, Byzantine monasteries and various archaeological sites.
