Samos is a Greek island in the Eastern Aegean Sea.  It is the eight largest island in the country and is famous for its lush greenery, mountainous formations, and beautiful beaches.

The island is well connected to numerous ports in both the mainland and neighboring islands with frequent scheduled trips via ferry.  There is also an airport with international and domestic flights regularly plying the route. Lodging is also not a problem with numerous hotels and smaller accommodation readily available in all towns.    Use our Samos map to help you find your way through the towns of this magnificent vacation island.

The island has an exceptional archaeological museum with numerous artifacts both from the island and from numerous countries with which the island traded with during ancient times.  Other museums of note include the Paleontology Museum in Mytilini and the Byzantine Museum.

Beaches are the main destination for visitors and you can use our Samos map to find your way to the ones that catch your fancy.  Notables include Mykali, where storks, herons and flamingos frequently visit to the delight of visitors, especially children; Tsamadou, a beach with a pebbled coast, crystal clear water, and good waves – it is the only nude beach in the island; Tsopela, a sandy beach with coves that sits at the mouth of a magnificent gorge; and Psili Amos, a shallow beach with fine sand and a favorite among nature lovers.
